Ingram New Works Project Application

Nashville Repertory Theatre’s Ingram New Works Project empowers exceptional new voices to write the stories they are most passionate about. We provide playwrights with developmental support, travel, lodging, hospitality, networking, and audiences, allowing them to focus on what they do best: creating powerful, necessary, and impactful new plays. Since 2009, the Ingram New Works Project has supported the development of over 60 new plays.
Nashville Rep will provide the playwrights-in-residence:
A one-week script development lab that meets in Nashville and additional online labs.
Travel, Housing, and some meals will be provided for all Lab meetings in Nashville
An artist-led development process designed to support the playwright
Access to professional actors, directors, and dramaturgs
Access to professional marketing and audience development resources
Staged readings presented as part of the Ingram New Works Series
As part of our commitment to supporting and developing artists, Nashville Rep works with local actors and directors whenever possible to continue to broaden the creative capacity of the community.
Lab playwrights must be available for one of the chosen Lab Dates:
Lab Weeks:
October 6-11, 2025
January 12-17, 2026
March 9-14, 2026
APPLICATION MATERIALS
All applications must include the following:
A cover letter of intent introducing yourself and telling us why you would be a good fit for this program. You should also pitch your play in this letter, detailing why you want to develop this play now and your connection to the material.
A draft of the proposed play. Please keep in mind that this can be any of the following:
An early, unfinished draft
A few pages written with an outline and/or synopsis
A completed first draft.
A professional resume
A full-length play that best represents your work.

Please use the APPLY NOW button at the bottom of the page. Upload your letter, draft resume, and play as separate PDFs. Other file formats will not be accepted. Your application must include all four files. You will receive a confirmation email shortly to verify your submission.
