Job Title: Rentals Manager

Immediate Supervisor: Costume Shop Manager

Location: Nashville Repertory Theatre housed at Nashville PBS, 161 Rains Ave., Nashville, TN &

Public Storage, 825 3rd Ave South, Nashville, TN

Employment Type: Part-Time (2-3 days per week, totalling no more than 8 hours per day)

Job Summary:

The Rentals Manager will oversee the operations of Nashville Rep’s rentals program, ensuring efficient

digital inventory management, customer service, and the preservation and organization of company

assets. The manager will collaborate closely with the Costume Shop Manager to coordinate rental

appointments and use of stock, as well as with the Props Manager on rental use of assets to maximize

both internal artistic support and the revenue-generating potential of the rental collection.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the outtake, tracking, return, and restock of rentals.

  • Maintain and update inventory management systems to ensure accurate records

  • Supervise the condition and quality of rentals as they go out and when they return.

  • Manage cleaning and repairs as needed.

  • Provide styling advice and assistance to clients as needed. (Professional and community

    theater productions, individuals, schools, etc.)

  • Abide by developed and implemented rental policies, contracts, and pricing structures.

  • Manage customer bookings, inquiries, invoices, and payments.

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards within the rental space.

  • Maintain accurate rental records, inventory logs, and income reports for administrative review.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Customer service mindset, with excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.

  • Strong organizational and inventory management skills.

  • Ability to lift, carry, and move costumes, shoes, accessories, small furniture, and bins of hand

  • props up to 40 lbs.

  • Familiarity with Calendly & Rentmaster (inventory management system) or willingness to learn.

  • Basic knowledge of costume history, construction, and maintenance or willingness

  • Basic knowledge of set dressing and hand props or willingness to learn.

Theatre Apprenticeship Program

The Nashville Repertory Theatre Apprenticeship Program is committed to training future generations of Nashville theater professionals. Applicants should be highly motivated individuals who have already acquired strong basic training and expertise in the theater arts and are looking to explore their field further through meaningful hands-on experience.  Previous experience could include educational, community/semi-professional theatre, and/or other professional theatre settings. 

 

Apprenticeship FAQs: 

  • Pay is $1,500 for each position

  • Hours vary based on the department.

  • Some apprenticeships require being able to commit to full rehearsal schedules, such as apprentice directors and stage managers.

  • Apprentices will be allowed to participate in regular production meetings prior to the beginning of rehearsals.
