A struggling artist puts her own work on hold to give painting lessons to an unusual student - the former president of the United States. But the job comes with one condition from the former First Lady: The artist has to discourage the President. Once the ex-President starts painting, the artist swears he’s actually (and completely unexpectedly) good at it. But is he? Or is the artist just seeing what she wants to see?

This world premiere production follows the acclaimed staged reading of This Red Planet at the 2018 Ingram New Works Festival, Nashville Rep's annual celebration of new plays and playwrights. The Festival has produced over 60 original plays over the last decade, with many going on to full productions across the country, including Broadway and Off-Broadway. Don’t miss your chance to see This Red Planet at its world premiere!
