Quotes From the Cabaret Cast

Having a "Perfectly Marvelous Time" with Cabaret

There is no doubt that Cabaret is a smash hit that has taken Nashville for an emotional roller coaster ride.  We decided to ask some of the actors about the Cabaret journey they embark almost every night at the theater. Here is what they had to say:

Marin Miller in Tennessee Rep's Cabaret

As an actor who often finds my deepest connection to a character in relation to that character's physical life and body, it is a delicious challenge to create an atmosphere, set a tone, tell a story, and embody a character all through dance. Pam Atha's choreography is spectacularly rich, nuanced, and delightfully actable.' I am having a ball playing 'Texas!' And it gets even better: The BAND!! Good heavens, the band is out-of-this-world good! So now, I'm dancing a character to music made by some of the best musicians this world has to offer. And that's not an exaggeration. That's a fact. That's why I pace the floors waiting until it's time to go to work each night. I love my job! - Marin Miller (Texas/Ensemble)

Mia Rose Ernst in Tennessee Rep's Cabaret

It is a great honor working with such high-caliber artists on such powerful material. Every day when I leave for the theatre, I have to pinch myself that it is actually my job to go be a Kit Kat Girl--to dance and play on a gorgeous set to music made by phenomenal musicians, among devoted, gifted actors. Everyone involved, from the production team to the cast to the wonderful team helping backstage, has created a safe environment to explore, create, and deliver our hearts to the audience each night. And we couldn't be having more fun! -Mia Rose Ernst (Rosie/Ensemble)

Stephen Michael Jones in Tennessee Rep's Cabaret

This has been truly one of the best experiences of my life! I get the privilege to be a part of such a monumental piece of theatre that brings up issues that still are relevant today in society and has the room to throw in some fun songs that you can't get out of your head. I also get to work with tremendous talent every night and the reactions from our audience have been the best any performer could ask for! - Stephen Michael Jones (Hans/Ensemble)

Jeremy Maxwell in Tennessee Rep's Cabaret

One of my most memorable experiences in the theatre was seeing the national tour of Cabaret in 2000. I was blown away by the show, and the thing that sticks with me the most was how the actors made every dance, scene, and set change a pleasure to watch. The show never stopped; it was a unit... everyone contributed. It was the first time I realized what a strong ensemble cast could do. To perform in Cabaret has truly been a dream come true. But what makes me even more proud is what our own ensemble has been able to accomplish. Besides being wonderfully gifted, every single actor gives a rich, artistic performance, full of nuance. What a pleasure it has been to work with them! - Jeremy Maxwell (Bobby/Ensemble)

There are only three more performances left to Nashville Rep's Cabaret. We would hate for you to miss out on the show that has everyone talking in Nashville, TN. Please visit http://nashvillerep.org/cabaret for tickets.
